How do I post alerts to Discourse?
Some teams want alerts on a Discourse forum rather than only in chat. When Discourse is enabled for the workspace, SentryDock can post using the connection you configure.
Use it for an internal research forum, not as a public dump of every alert. Same rule: few monitors, a category people actually read.
Setup
- An administrator connects Discourse in workspace settings.
- Grant only the access requested.
- Choose the destination category or topic your forum expects.
- Test with one monitor before attaching others.
Permissions
Only connect a forum you administer or were asked to integrate. If posts fail, the API key may have been rotated — an admin should reconnect rather than sharing the key in email.
